Doug talked about common misused statements such as: "I could care less" vs "I couldn't care less". another is "Do good" vs "Do well". But Rotary, we do good and we do well. An example is that Rotary donated cellphones to health care workers in Pakistan and Nigeria so they can communicate polio outbreaks.
Doug also reminded us that today is International Women's Day, and how women have enhanced Rotary beyond measure!
Rotary Moment
Jim Lowry shared his Rotary Moment, which came on an International trip to Zambia. In Zambia, livestock are families assets. To prevent them from being stolen, they would bring them into their homes at night. This was causing the children to get parasites giving them distended bellies. Our Club gave them $500 which enabled them to buy cement and build retaining bins to keep the livestock safe at night and the children healthy. He said the entire community started dancing they were so happy!
