A Board Meeting was held this morning at Varenita prior to a shortened, regular meeting.
2022 - 2023 Rotary Theme
President Laura got the meeting off by having Steve get on the District 5240 website and display it on the screen. The Dashboard was displayed and then Steve drilled down into parts of the site itself. Below are some examples of the statistics that can be obtained on each Club in the District. These stats clearly show that Simi Sunset is one of the more influential Clubs in our District. Bottom line, Laura said, is that we should all be proud of our accomplishments. We do a lot and it shows that a lot of people care.
All of these statistics and comparisons of Clubs though did bring out a side of Laura that was, well, scary. Her competitive side couldn't be held back and she was devouring the numbers. A true numbers person. And probably the reason for the Club's success is that most in the meeting were doing the same thing! Winning in these statistics is obviously not why we do what we do as a Club but is is nice to be recognized for one's accomplishments. Good Job President Laura!

Dorina Timbol, Executive Director of the For The Need Foundation, a local charitable non-profit, shared a story that exemplifies how strangers can connect and come to aid of those in need.
Dorina had asked John Baxter to put on a Work Force Development work shop for her organization. Gary White provided the water. Within this event, there was person who was preparing to move into a home but had no furnishings. Because of the various connections, this person acquired what they needed. To complicate things though they received the furnishings before their escrow closed. So this same group of people arranged for a U-Haul to help store their belongings until they moved in. It doesn't get any better than that. And all due to connections, Rotary connections. Thank You Dorina!
