The Board meeting opened up with thanks being given by President Katherine to all of the volunteers involved in Oktoberfest this past Saturday. With Special Thanks given to Laura Berger and Larry Borovay for putting it all together. It was a great success and a lot of fun as the picture above shows. Job Well Done Laura and Larry!
The Board Meeting opened up with a lot of comments about the Oktoberfest and they were all very positive. Everyone agreed it was a well received community event that included different generations and brought great visibility to our Rotary Club and to just Rotary in general. Dorina mentioned that, as a result of Oktoberfest, she is talking to 4 people who are interested in joining Rotary.
As Kathryn put it, We're Back! Oktoberfest was, she said, the first big Simi community event put on by a service organization since covid hit and it was successful. People had a lot of fun, there were no disturbances (Thank You Big, Bad John Bagnall!) and we made money. This money will go a long way toward our fundraising efforts. She said that there would be a proper celebration of the success of Oktoberfest at our meeting next week.
Other items of note that Kathryn mentioned are that Deb Davila will step in as Acting Club Service Director, Bill Klepper as Acting Community Service Director and Camille Cordova will coordinate the Blood Drive while Leigh Seaton is out on a Leave of Absence. Get back soon Mr. Seaton!
Kathryn ended by letting us know about an upcoming Group 5 effort in honor of World Polio Day on October 24th. Volunteers are needed to work on an Iron Lung Display at the Simi Town Center. See more information on this below under Important Announcements.

The District Governor's visit is scheduled for October 28th. Kathryn said a reception will be held that evening at a place to be determined. If you have ideas for that location please share them with her.
In regard to our meeting at the Best Western starting October 21st, Kathryn asked that we all be respectful of space and how others feel about meeting inside now. Masks will be available as we all need to stay healthy, which is our theme.

TIERRA REJADA CLEANUP
Leigh also let us know that we will be working with the Moorpark and Simi Clubs to spruce up Tierra Rejada with the Adopt-a-Road Program on October 16th from 7:30 AM to Noon. Spruce up sounds nicer than picking up trash. The County will be providing vests, gloves, hats and trash bags but please bring any trash pickup devices you may have.
