President Laura welcomed everyone to the last meeting before the Happy Face Music Festival.  She said that if you need to submit check requests for costs incurred for the Music Fest, that they need to be submitted by June 10th.

Laura said that she had a great time at the recent Foundation Gala.  There were quite a few references to our Club she said, all good of course.  We shined in comparison to the other 78 Clubs.  And Tim Gray was mentioned as being at the highest levels of the donor rolls.  Well done Tim!

Lastly, Gem Munro forwarded another article from he's written on his experiences in the world's slums.  See the link below:

Arun Sharma welcomed our Guests and they included Mr. Lyle Pennington (with Moorpark of Rotary), Mr. Milad Pezeshki (last time as a Special Guest), Ms. Caroline Thompson (Simi Sunrise Scholarship recipient) with her parents, Jill and Dale Thompson and our Guest Speaker Ms. Bridget McCarthy.
Lyle Pennington, past president of Moorpark of Rotary, was here this morning to announce his Club's 21st annual Golf Tournament.  See the Flyer below under Community News.

Caroline Thompson, at the podium with her parents, Jill and Dale Thompson.  Caroline was unable to attend last week's breakfast where this year's Simi Sunrise Scholarship recipients were acknowledged.  So we had the pleasure of doing that this morning.  Caroline will be attending Cal Poly SLO majoring in Civil Engineering.  Congratulations Caroline!

Dorina Timbol had the honor of inducting our newest member into the Club this morning, Dr. Milad Pezeshki.  Milad is the Director of Outpatient Operations for Adventist Health Simi Valley, having over 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry.  He received his Doctor of Medicine from St. George's University.  Welcome Milad!
This picture in London was taken 4 months ago with his wife, Sara, and his now-1 year old son.  Milad and Sara love to travel.  So much so that their bay boy has traveled to 7 different countries on 16 flights since his birth!
Milad implemented the first covid drive-through testing in Los Angeles.  This is from the Moorpark Urgent Care site.

Fernando Estevez's interview of Herschel Berger, on the left, as past president almost didn't happen.  Fernando's agent had made it very clear previously; no ZZ Top introductory music, no Fernando.  Well, someone fell asleep at the wheel and did cue up Sharp Dressed Man when Fernando approached the podium and Fernando nearly walked out.  Thankfully, the misdeed was corrected in time and the show/interview went on.

Herschel was president 2011-2012 and the Rotary International theme was Reach Within to Embrace Humanity and our Club's theme was Let The Magic Happen.  Fernando asked Herschel what Herschel's best accomplishment was and Herschel said it was asking Fernando to be the Community Service Director that year.  Herschel felt that our early morning meetings would require a lot of energy to get them started and Fernando did an exceptional job providing that energy.  Fernando took very good care of the Club.

Herschel was especially proud of the Cajun results, having achieved a net profit of $120,000.  This provided for a lot of events and donations that year.  One memorable donation was to Simi Adventist Hospital as Friends of the Hospital resulting in the placement of a plaque at the hospital.

Herschel's advice to future presidents is that, when given the opportunity to be president, grab it.  The rewards are tremendous.  He ended by saying that the members make the Club and that the president simply facilitates the working of the Club.  He said that we're not just a Club, we're special and that, despite differences between us, we are here for each other.

Bridget McCarthy is a miniatures artist who began honing her skills at an early age.  Bridget was born and raised in Southern California and her passion for creating Dollhouses led to working with major studios in the Hollywood industry.  She recreates miniature sets and movie scenes at 1/12 scale along with highly sought after collectibles for Disney Parks, galleries and private collectors.  And she does all this from home.

Bridget has over 600,000 followers on social media and will get anywhere from 1 million to 10 million views of her videos that she makes of her scenes and sets.  The sets she creates can sell between $3,000 and $5,000.  Upon hearing that Bruce Bromberg said that her line of work sounded very lucrative and asked about her marital status.  Nice try Bruce.   See some of Bridget's incredible creations below......
This is a doll house Bridget has at home.
This is ET's closet.
This is the set of the TV show Full House.  Bridget told a story of meeting John Stamos through this set.

https://www.rotaryclubofsimisunrise.org/

There is a phone app that can be downloaded to your phone; everyone should have that app on their phones.  You will have to download the app and then log in the first time.  After that, the login portion is not required.
