Anni Sumby and Dorina Timbol announced another Kareyucky Night! Save the Date for Saturday, July 29th starting at 6:00 PM. Sign ups ARE available online at kareyucky.com. The location, AKA the Speakeasy, is a closely guarded secret to be unveiled the Friday before the event and it is limited to the first 100 people to sign up. This promises to be even bigger and better than the last one! Sponsors are needed so please let Anni or Dorina know if you're interested. Thank You Bill Klepper for already stepping forward. Anni can be contacted at:
YES! is scheduled for October 21, 2023! Dorina Timbol is leading the charge for YES! across the District and is asking that sign ups start early. This YES! program will be bigger and better than last year (which will be hard to do!) with discussions happening with, among others, the Simi Valley Chief of Police and the Simi Valley Unified School District Superintendent. One theme this year will be humanizing the police.

Today's Program
Simi PD Detectives
Shane has been with the Simi Valley Police Department for five years. He joined the Detective Bureau as a Property Crimes Detective in early 2022. He is also a proud member of the Simi Valley Police Department’s SWAT team.
Nick is a 15-year veteran of law enforcement. He started his law enforcement career at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) in 2008 and lateraled to the Simi Valley Police Department in 2014. During his diverse career, he has worked as an investigator into inmate gangs at LASD, the Simi Valley Police Department P.R.O.S Officers, working with high risk offenders. He recently joined the Detective Bureau as a Property Crimes Detective. He has also held collateral assignments as a SWAT Team Member and a member of the department’s honor guard.
As Property Crimes Detectives, both specialize in
investigations as they pertain to fraud, forgery, burglary,
auto theft, organized retail theft, and arson.
They said that identity theft and organized retail theft make up the vast majority of their cases. Also that Simi Valley is a good place to live and that the perpetrators come from outside of Ventura County.
The main scams target the elderly and are romance scams, warrant scams and IRS.
They reminded us that police work in uniforms, but they are people as well with families to come home to at night. This resonates heavily with one of the YES! themes which puts police and students together sharing their lives and working in teams.
When the secretary adds a new member to our roster, you will receive an automatic email that gives you your login ID and a temporary password so that you can access the web site (ClubRunner). This gives you the opportunity to upload a photo and enter a permanent password. You can go to the public portion of our website (no login required) and see the calendar, list of officers, birthdays, past bulletins, etc. The link to the public portion of our website is:
There is a phone app that can be downloaded to your phone; everyone should have that app on their phones. You will have to download the app and then log in the first time. After that, the login portion is not required.
==================================
Please remember to bring a friend or an acquaintance to our next meeting. This is a GREAT way to grow our membership!
==================================
Our next meeting on June 8th will be at the Best Western Posada Royale at 1775 Madera Road. See you all there!
