President Deb Davila talked about Giving Tuesday, planned this year for December 3rd (it's the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.) She presented 5 reasons why we should choose the Rotary Foundation as our charity that day. The Rotary Foundation has:
1.A 4-star rating on Charity Navigator due to our accountability and transparency.
2. The opportunity to make an impact in the world like we have done through partnerships like PolioPlus
3. A record of success
4. Global reach
5. The ability to bring peace through our Rotary Peace Centers.
Kailey Wagner, our Foundation Chair thi year, highlighted that November is Foundation Month! One donation can and does make a huge impact.
-- For as little as 60 cents a child can be protected from polio.
--$50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illnesses.
$500 can launch an anti-bullying campaign to foster a safe environment for children.

She highlight three ways that we can give and make a difference:
1. Become a sustaining member - pledge $100 or more each year to the annual fund.
2. Become a Paul Harris Fellow
3. Become a Benefactor - include the Endowment Fund as a beneficiary in your estate plans.

There are more ways to give and you can learn more by visiting rotary.org today!
Jim Lowry and Bob Donnelly talked about what they learned at the recently held District Conference in October.  They highlighted that the event made them better Rotarians! They learned about new fundraising ideas; other club projects; anti-terrorism and trafficking updates and more!
Simi Valley High School Lacrosse Team Needs Funds for Helmets
This morning members of the SVHS Lacrosse Team stopped by to ask for our assistance helping them fund $200 helmets for each player!  We passed the helmets around!
Bring Your Shoes!
President Deb reminded us that the shoe drive is under way and will continue through the beginning of December.  She shared a really pretty shoe this morning that was dropped off!

Ask your friends and family at Thanksgiving this year and if you can, solicit your co-workers.  Put a box in the lunch room. We are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes.

Please bring them to the meetings on Thursdays, or you can drop it off at Meg's office - Visiting Angels, 1176 Road Runner Way, Suite B, Simi Valley. See flyer below for more details!
